Job Title:

Lead Assistant Editor for PBS Series, Finding Your Roots

Ark Media is one of the prominent documentary production companies in NYC located in downtown Brooklyn.  We’re seeking a Lead Assistant Editor for the fifth season of Finding Your Roots, a PBS documentary series focusing on genealogy, American history and immigration. Our past productions have won multiple awards, including Emmy’s and Peabody Awards.

The post-production crew will consist of a Lead AE, three AE’s, up to five editors, and a post supervisor. The lead AE will also work closely with archival researchers and animators. When in full swing, there will be ten episodes in play simultaneously, in various stages of offline and online editing.

As the show is in its fifth season, systems and routines are in place that have made the work smooth and successful in the past. However, there is plenty of room for a Lead AE to take ownership of procedures and workflows (and it is our hope that our next Lead AE will do just that). A successful season working as Lead AE on the series is highly likely to result in future on-going work with the company.
