Ark Media is currently at work on two projects related to the 2009
bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth. One film, for PBS's American
Experience, traces Lincoln's assassination and the manhunt for John
Wilkes Booth. The other, produced in conjunction with WNET and Kunhardt
Productions, is a contemporary look at Lincoln's legacy across the
country, and a conversation about what the myth of Lincoln means today.
Both films will broadcast on PBS in 2009 - stay tuned for details.
In the summer of 2008, Ark Media will begin developing another film for
PBS's FRONTLINE that will dig deeper into the digital revolution.
January 2008 saw an Ark double feature. The Lobotomist aired on January
21 on American Experience -- you can watch the program and read more
here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/lobotomist/program/. Growing Up Online aired on January 22 on FRONTLINE, and is available online here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/kidsonline/
Ark Media's film "The Boy in the Bubble" was nominated for an Emmy Award for best science and nature documentary in 2007.
In 2007, the short documentary 'Naked,' directed by Rachel
Dretzin, was posted to the New York Times Magazine website. Appearing
in conjunction with a feature on baby boomers in Sunday's Magazine,
'Naked' looks candidly at sex and aging in the middle years through
interviews with 10 very different people. You can still see the film here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE-l4r1Jxcc.
Naked is nominated for a 2008 Webby award, in the Drama: Individual Episode category: http://www.webbyawards.com/webbys/current.php?media_id=97&season=12#film_doc_ind_ep
